On smartphones, switching apps may cause the video meeting to end.

Network Quality and Number of Participants

Requestland’s video meetings use direct peer-to-peer (P2P) connections without going through a server, providing very low latency and high video quality. (Mobile data charges may apply.)

On the other hand, sufficient network bandwidth is required. For example, when three people are participating, you send data to two other participants and receive data from those two participants, resulting in four simultaneous connections. Depending on the sending video quality and network conditions, up to three participants can enjoy high-quality video. With reduced video quality, up to four participants are practical. For audio-only calls, up to about eight participants can join.

To avoid issues on mobile networks, the default sending resolution is set to low quality (640 × 480). On high-quality networks, you can switch to higher video quality.

If the video does not move smoothly, all participants should lower the sending video quality from the settings menu. Alternatively, press the videocam video meeting button in the settings menu and switch to an videocam_off audio-only call.

Users on home or corporate networks (Wi-Fi or LAN) are often behind firewalls, which may prevent connections from outside. Even in such cases, we provide a COTURN relay server, but its bandwidth capacity is limited. Connecting via a mobile network may work better.

Settings Menu

When you tap the screen during a video meeting, the video meeting settings menu appears at the top of the screen.

To close the settings, press the clear button at the top right.

Sending Video Quality
The video quality sent to other participants. When many participants are present or when using a slow connection such as a mobile network, lowering the quality improves smoothness. The default is 640 × 480 to work well on mobile networks. On high-quality networks, select higher quality. To send very high resolutions such as 4K or WQHD, you may need to select a high-performance codec in the Video setting below.
To change the quality of other participants’ video on your screen, ask them to change their sending video quality.
Camera
Selects the camera to use.
Microphone
Selects the microphone to use.
Speaker
Selects the speaker to use.
Video
Selects the video codec (compression method) for sending video. From highest to lowest performance: VP9, VP8, H264. VP9 provides high-quality video with less bandwidth but requires a fast CPU. H264 has lower CPU usage but is not suitable for high-resolution video. The default is VP8.
Audio Bitrate
Selecting a higher bitrate improves audio quality. Selecting a lower bitrate allows more participants to join even on slower networks. The default is 96 Kbps.

Security

When you press “Copy Video Meeting Link,” the same link with the same random videoID is copied each time.

https://request.land/(n_n)v?videoID=K2oaPbJeUAuMj6wQit094B

It is practically impossible to guess this videoID at random. However, if you share the link with many people, situations such as “We were having a meeting with two people and an unexpected person suddenly joined” or “Others were holding a meeting without my knowledge” may occur. Please share the link only with a small number of trusted people.

You can invalidate the existing link and issue a new one using Invalidate and Renew Link above.

You can also prevent non-organization users from joining by using Restrict Video Meeting Participants above.
